XX-XY Athletics announced Turner as the recipient on Monday.

“Taking her knees made her stronger than men. She was standing on the ground to fight for women’s sports,” Jennifer Say, founder of XX-XY Athletics, said in a news release. “She’s a hero.”
Turner receives $5,000 and joins the Leadership Program.

“We aim to remove these women’s cancellations and stab wounds from the platform and put them on,” she said. “They have a community. They have support. They don’t stand alone.”
Turner refused to compete with trans competitor Redmond Sullivan at the Cherry Blossom Open. Turner received a black card for his decision to take his knee and was expelled from the tournament for serious violations and sportsman-like behavior.

“American Fencing didn’t hear women’s objections, so I knew I had to do it. [its gender eligibility policy]”Turner told Fox News Digital in an interview last week. “At that point, I was on my knees. Redmond had the impression that I was about to start fencing. So when I took my knees I looked up at the reference and said, “Sorry, I can’t do this. I’m a woman, this is a man. And this is a women’s tournament. And I don’t do this individual on the fence.”
American Fencing The protest prompted the defending of the comprehensive policy.
“USA Fencing remains committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful community for everyone in our sport. We believe in the principle of creating a safe community where all athletes and members of our community have a place,” the statement read.
