
An astonishing century-old ring has recently been excavated under the tiled rub of a historic castle Eastern Europe.
Impressive brass ring found WAWEL ROYAL CASTLE In Krakow, Poland. The castle’s website describes it as “the most historical and culturally important place in Poland.”
“For centuries, the castle, a symbol of the King’s residence and Polish state, is now one of the best museums in the country,” the website says.

The ring was excavated during the renovation of the fort of King Uddiswau IV, the king who ruled Poland from 1632 to 1648.

Historians estimate that jewelry dates back to the 15th or 16th centuries.
According to castle officials, a local archaeologist named Konrad Zhulkovsky found the ring.
“It was discovered while sifting through a tiled rub filling from inside the monument pedestal,” read a post translated from Polish to English.

“The Signet Ring has an oval shield,” the Facebook post states.
“You can see the craftsman’s marks, perhaps the craftsman’s marks, on the German-style coat of arms shield.”

The statement says, “It also shows letter ICs (initials?). Items have surfaces decorated with horizontal grooves.”

Officials say the ring will be “studied along with other discoveries after the completion of archaeological research into the fortress of Wwadiswow IV.”
