
The “copy” of famous documents, known as the symbol of tyranny and as the “ground of freedom,” has been discovered to be authentic.
According to a news release, in 1946, Harvard Law School purchased a “copy” of Magna Carta from London’s legal book dealer Sweet & Maxwell for just $27.50.

One professor, David Carpenter, noticed a digital version of the documentation on the Harvard Law School Library website and realized it might be authentic.
“It’s a great discovery,” Carpenter, a professor of medieval history at King’s College London, told Harvard University. Law School press release.

Previously, there were only six original documents. It is known to exist.
Magna Carta is the royal charter agreed by King John of England in 1211.

To determine whether the charter is authentic, it is photographed under ultraviolet light and subjected to various levels of spectral imaging, Form Analysishands and content.

Nicholas Vincent, professor of medieval history at East Anglia University, said that he is “a totem of freedom, the central part of our sense of who we are: freedom-born people who love freedom.”
“This is a great discovery.”
He added, “It is a symbol of both Western political tradition and constitutional law. If you ask someone what is the single most famous document in world history, they will probably be named Magna Carta.”

The press release states, “Carpenter and Vincent observed that the elongated letters and the first line of the large capital E coincides with six other originals in the Magna Carta 1300.”
National Archives In Washington, DC, it holds the 1297 version of the Magna Carta, which is on display by the public.
