Baltimore Orioles Coby Mayo got hotter on Saturday as his team won the Chicago White Sox 4-2.
At the bottom of the four innings, two outs and runners were second runners, with Mayo hitting a single from the first field. Career MLB RBI.
When Mayo tried to advance to 2 base after the hit, the White Sox threw the ball back and caught Mayo with an overview between 1 base and 2 base.

Mayo then ran out of baseline to avoid the tag and appeared to try and elicit interference when he hit White Sox infielder Renin Sosa. Mayo fell to the ground on the grass’s back in the infield and was tagged.

Mayo then exchanged words with White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas and Sosa, and the referee stood close to them as the conversation intensified. Eventually, Mayo retrieved the helmet and returned to the O’s dugout at first baseline, but reached into his right hand and shoved Sosa into his chest halfway through. Rojas then pushed Mayo from behind.
Pushing in allowed both the bench and bullpen to clear, converging the team to the center of the field. The referee eventually restored the order before anything became physical, and both teams retreated.

Mayo has been criticized for his stunts on social media, and many have called his actions the “bush league.”
“Obviously, they’re trying to get to the second base and get into Heston’s scoring position. [Kjerstad]. [They cut] It turned off and became an overview. Obviously, he was only told to keep his overview in the minor leagues and thought he was at baseline. [I was] You are about to get in touch. I wasn’t going to escalate that. I wasn’t trying to do that, it just did,” Mayo told reporters.
