The Denver Nuggets fired manager Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
David Abelman reportedly will become interim head coach.
The reported decision to fire Malone is shocking. The Nuggets are 47-32 this season, the second seed of the Western Conference and the Los Angeles Lakers’ 1.5 games.
The Nuggets only have three games left in the regular season before the playoffs begin. Denver has been struggling recently as he lost his last four games and won three of his last 10 games.

Malone coached the Nuggets for nearly 10 seasons, leading the franchise to its first NBA championship in 2023. Malone was 471-327 in the Nuggets career.
Booth was hired as assistant general manager in 2017 and was promoted to general manager in 2020 after serving as general manager when the team won the NBA title in 2023.
