“All that’s been here and having a chance to win over the last few years has been very emotional,” he said after the event.
Cabrera was sentenced to prison for threats and harassment against two of his ex-girlfriends. He was released on parole in August 2023 and cleared to play in PGA Tour Champion An event was held later that year.
He said he was embarrassed by his actions after being released from prison by Golf Digest and asked his ex-girlfriend for forgiveness.

“I am embarrassed to repent,” Cabrera said. “I made a serious mistake. I listened to everyone and refused what I wanted, when I wanted, when I wanted, when I wanted. It was wrong. I ask Michaela for forgiveness. I asked Celia for forgiveness.
Cabrera is scheduled to take part in the Masters later this week, as champions have a lifetime exemption.
“I can’t wait to see him,” 2013 Masters winner Adam Scott told Augusta National on Sunday. “That’s a happy thing for me. We have a fairly long history. I first met him on the European tour before we both joined the PGA Tour. We played the Presidential Cup, we were partners.”
