According to the National Golf Foundation, 3.7 million young people aged 17 to 17 played golf on the course in 2024, an increase of nearly 50% over five years.
One of the greatest of all time, Annika Sörenstam is behind a new effort to help even more young people play sports. Sörenstam is partnering with Bank of America for an initiative called “Golf With Us.”
“This initiative is close to my heart, so it’s a way to grow the game of golf and I’m going to do it by giving young children the opportunity to make golf more affordable. So by signing up and getting an annual membership…. You’ll get the opportunity to play on thousands of courses for under $5.
And Sörenstam says golf isn’t just about competing on the course. “If you’re a golfer, you need so much patience, and as you know, when you’re out into the world or in life in general, perseverance really matters,” she says.
Sörenstam also points to the qualities that are necessary in both discipline, focus, determination, and life outside of golf and sports.
