The rider reportedly documented multiple incidents of driving issues related to Tesla’s new Robotaxi service. This is a self-driving car, launched by an automaker that launched earlier this week in Austin, Texas.
A video taken by passengers this week showed Tesla Robotaxis – Model Y vehicle with advanced software – Sudden braking, speeding, improper drop-offs, entering the wrong lane and driving around the curb.

One video showed a Robotaxi driving into a lane for 6 seconds for opposing traffic. In another incident, the vehicle suddenly braked for no apparent reason, leading passengers to jerk forward, causing their belongings to fall on the floor, Reuters reported.

“This is very quick to have lots of unstable and poor driving videos,” says Carnegie Mellon University’s computer engineering professor. Autonomous Technology Experts told Reuters. “I didn’t expect much of a video of a problematic driving on the first day.”

On Sunday, Tesla launched a test group for around 10 to 20 self-driving Robotaxis in Austin, marking it for the first time when the company’s cars carried paid riders without a human driver. Tesla CEO Elon Musk The launch on X began with customers paying a flat rate of $4.20.
Musk previously said that Tesla will deploy Robotaxis services to other U.S. cities later this year, and has predicted millions of Teslas will operate autonomously by the second half of 2026, according to Reuters.
