On Saturday, Otani threw first pitch strikes to all seven batters he faced, finishing 20 and 20 strikes on 27 pitches.
“I’m happy to have been able to attack the zone,” Otani said through an interpreter. “There are some small things I still need to work on, but overall I’m pretty happy.”

He first allowed Bobby Whitt Jr. to a one-out single, walking over Maykel Garcia before threw a 101.7 mph fastball 0-2 count.
“That’s something I don’t think I can do in a live BP setting,” Otani said. “I’m happy to be able to hit this tongue and see how my body reacts.”

The 30-year-old has 29 homers as Los Angeles’ main designated batsman this season.
