President Donald J. Trump His administration announced Tuesday that it would restore the original names of several US Army bases renamed during President Biden, calling it unnecessary and politically driven by the previous changes.
“For a bit of news,” Trump said during his speech. At Fort Bragg“We will also restore names to Fort Pickett, Fort Hood, Fort Gordon, Fort Tracker, Fort Polk, Fort Polk, Fort AP Hill and Fort Robert E. Lee.”
Trump warns that potential protesters at his military parade will “meet with a very large force.”

The seven bases were renamed in 2023 under the pentagonal directive issued by the Biden administration, following the 2021 law passed by Congress.

This change was recommended by the Naming Committee to remove the honor of Confederate figures. Trump has not mentioned the change in Fort Bragg’s name or the change to Fort Liberty.
