president Donald TrumpThe executive order aimed at reducing drug prices in the United States split Democrats into Capitol Hill. Some were cautiously optimistic, while others dismissed the move as intense.
Most Democrats who spoke with Fox News Digital about the order noted that they had not read the details, but the response was largely split.
“It certainly seems like bark more than chewing,” Rep. Richard Neil, a top Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee, told Fox News Digital.
Neil said it “strips me as if it were another example of an executive order that has been given a lot of attention,” but he said he is still looking into the details.

Rep. George Latimer of New York is a first Democrat who has been excluded from a former member of the Progressive “Squad” and a former member of the former Rep. Jamaal Bowman of Dn.Y. shows that he has hopes about the initiative.
“If we can keep the costs of drugs low, that’s a positive thing,” Latimer said. “I’m not against everything the president does, helping people to lower costs. If that changes, yes, that’s a valuable idea. But honestly, I have to read it more closely to get it better.”
Trump announced Monday that he had directed the Department of Health and Human Services to set price targets for pharmaceutical companies.
The president said the order includes a pharmaceutical company. Set the drug price Equivalent to the lowest prices in other developed countries.
He said, “Some prescription drugs and pharmaceutical prices will be reduced by 50-80-90% almost immediately.”
D-Calif. A Democrat told Fox News Digital when asked about the order that “cutting drug costs is always a good thing.”
“I think it’s a move in the right direction. Let’s take a look at the details,” added Correa.

Like Neal, D-Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett told Fox News Digital that he was more skeptical.
“My feelings are that there’s a lot of talk, like he’s been announced during his first term, and there’s no meaningful drop in drug prices,” Doggett said. “It remains to be seen whether American patients will be able to lower the price of a single drug as a result of this order. So, until I see the action, I can’t believe he is really committed to lowering the price.”
House Democrats Caucasian Chair Pete AguilarD-calif. He also said he doesn’t believe Trump is “serious” when asked.
“This is all dishonest efforts. On the part of House Republicans and Donald Trump, pretending they’re looking for people,” Aguilar said. “If they’re serious about it, the policy will be within the scope of the settlement bill. It’s not. This is a performance effort by the president.”

Meanwhile, D-Calif. Rep. Ro Khanna of the House bill has introduced to make Trump’s order permanent.
“I am registering today to introduce it as a law as President Trump’s executive order for the most preferred national status in drug pricing,” Kanna told the House.
“My law codifies President Trump’s executive order, and basically states that Americans should not pay more for drugs than people in other countries or elsewhere in the world.”

In an exclusive Fox News interview with Sean Hannity, Trump argued that his executive order should offset Democrats’ concerns over his “big and beautiful” budget settlement bill, driven by Republicans.

Democrats accused Republicans of using the bill to disrupt critical programs like Medicaid for the millions of people who need it, but they argue that the GOP is trying to eliminate waste and abuse within the system.
“It’s Democrats’ fault for people being torn apart for years and years, and now I hear Democrats say, ‘Oh, well, we won’t go to the bill.’ It would be very difficult for them not to approve the big, beautiful bill we are doing,” Trump said. “We’re making the biggest tax cuts in our country’s history because people are going to cut drug prices by 50-90%.”
Fox News Digital asked the White House for a response.
