Exclusive: Trump administration Ministry of Homeland Security (DHS) has ended Temporary Protection Status (TPS) for approximately 520,000 Haitians currently resident in the United States.
The country’s TPS designation expires on August 3, 2025, and ends on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
“This decision restores the integrity of the immigration system and ensures that the temporary protection status is indeed temporary,” a DHS spokesperson said.
“The environmental situation in Haiti has improved enough to make it safe for Haitian citizens to return home. These individuals are encouraged to utilize the departmental resources that allow them to return to Haiti, which can be arranged through the CBP Home App.

The NOEM has decided to revoke its TPS status after reviewing the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) report, which showed that Haiti no longer meets the statutory requirement that grant temporary residents the ability to obtain temporary protected status.

A source for DHS tells FOX that it is encouraging US Haitians under TPS to use the CBP Home app to ensure a safe departure with free plane tickets and a $1,000 exit bonus.
The TPS was created by the Congress Immigration Act In 1990, the program can be extended over an 18-month period with the aim of designating US shelters for residents of countries facing natural disasters, war, or other unsafe and extraordinary conditions.
