Nashville, Tennessee – I’m looking around Vanderbilt’s meeting room. Tight End University On Tuesday, Trey McBride was one of the younger players in a group of 80 tight ends.

“I think it’s crazy to be recognized by some of these people who have been involved in the same conversation and have grown up watching and modeling games,” McBride told Fox News Digital on Wednesday before TEU golf on the Helmitage Golf Course. “It’s so surreal to gain respect and get that praise from those people. That’s a great honor.”
McBride was actually on the golf course when he learned that his extension had been agreed, and although it was short-lived on the throne of tight end pay, he was now not full of respect for the position that is on the market. “In the end, we’re trying to raise the tight end position and grow as much as possible,” he said. “I’m happy that George has gotten more. I hope someone can jump over George and everyone can make more money. So I’m happy that it’s a big position that continues to grow and that we can raise the bar a little.”
McBride wouldn’t be where he is if he hadn’t built a connection with quarterback Kyler Murray.
Last season, McBride won his second year in his second year by acquiring 111 of 147 targets for 1,146 yards for two touchdowns in 16 games. And some of those catches were twice as much, or even triple coverage.
“It’s a great honor to prove to him that you can go to him and play for him. I’ll try to make as many plays as possible for him,” McBride said. “More than anything, I just want to have that trust with him to throw the ball with him.

“It’s a huge relief for me and him, so I’m excited to play with him and keep that connection growing and getting better with Kylar.”
So, although he is still one of the younger players in the TEU, McBride is an example of how to succeed in a tight end position, and the financial aspects of his career already speak for itself.
