
Jose Luis Barrester won the 2024 US amateur and gave him a spot this year with the Masters, but the 21-year-old’s first time competing in majors on a famous course was covered in a moment in action in the first round.

Although Barrester admitted his disappointing results in the tournament, he expressed optimism about his future. “It’s not a great week for me on that front, but I look forward to the next opportunity to see how I compare myself to them,” he said.
As of Saturday afternoon, Justin Rose was at the top of the Masters Leaderboard. Meanwhile, Schaeffler was working to move out of the 4-way tie for fifth place as the third round of action took place.
