Rep. Greg Stube drafted the “The Make Autorail Again (MAGA) Act,” which withheld federal funds from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Agency (WMATA) until it was renamed “wmaga.” Donald Trump.
Additionally, the Metrorail system (6 color-coded lines containing approximately 130 miles of track) must be renamed “Trump Train.”

Steube called for the 1966 District of Columbia Act to grant Congress’ “consent” to the establishment of the Interstate Compact and subsequent WMATA.
“WMATA has received billions of federal support over the years and continues to face operational, safety and financial challenges,” Steube said in a statement.
“In the spirit of Doge, this bill calls for accountability by conditioning federal funds on reforms that demonstrate cultural change from bureaucratic stagnation to excellence and patriotism.”
The daily operations of WMATA and Metro, including fares and routing, are managed by their boards – It’s not a council. It also receives funding and recommendations from stakeholders in three states/districts.

The WMATA Board of Directors consists of two members, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and two federally appointed people.
Steube called Wmata a “struggling institution” “Fresh identity,” It especially precedes the global events scheduled for the region, including the 2027 NFL Draft and FIFA World Cup games.

However, the move to rename the entire metro system in tribute to senior officials has never been tried before.
