Eventually, authorities determined that Jets goaltender Connor Helebuick had driven the puck into his net. The goal was to give Dallas a 3-2 lead at the time. The star won the game 5-2.
Jets Coach Scott Arniel had problems with the interpretation of the rules that allowed Petrovich.
“If the puck gets kicked, if it hits someone else’s body or stick, it counts as a goal. It hits our goaltender stick and goes to the net. It’s not a goal,” Arniel said. “So they said Hellie drove the pack, but I’ve never seen the words promoted in the rulebook.”

Star Director Peter DeBoer said he was happy that staffers took the time to review the play to “get it right.”
The pack originally came out of a shot of Mikko Lantanen. It bouncing off Hellebuyk to his right, then left Petrovich’s interest and headed back towards the net.
“I saw him kick it, but I didn’t see a replay of it. …I thought it was probably 50-50, but I’m grateful that they called it the goal,” said Rantanen.
Petrovic, who scored the playoffs for the first time in nine years, called it a “lucky goal.”
NHL fans weren’t enthusiastic, they expressed it with an X.
Rantanen recorded 49 seconds since play resumed.
