On Monday, ESPN NFL analyst Damien Woody gave a brief reason for why Sanders skated on “Get Up.”
“I think the NFL sent a message saying you’re not that much of a guy. Honestly, the overwhelming message that Chedur saw when she slipped into the fifth round was basically saying you weren’t that guy. You’re fine, but you’re not that guy.”
“I’m here to tell everyone there, everyone who’s watching NFL Draftwho loves the NFL, trust me when I say this to you. If you’re that guy, they’re in the business where the NFL and all these teams have won, so they’re going to pick you in the first round. If they can help the team win, they will choose you.
“The NFL clearly felt that Chedure Sanders was a good outlook, but he wasn’t what the younger people call him, and he wasn’t him. And on top of that, you consider all the celebrities and everything that comes with Chedure Sanders. And I’m not something I’m downplaying for, for reasons that I found myself in the fifth round.”
