National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) defender Sabbiking underwent heart surgery after a horrific collapse during a match Angel City The team said Friday night.
King was rushed to Cedars Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles After she suffered from medical problems while playing against the Utah Royals. Doctors discovered an abnormality in her heart and had surgery on Tuesday.

“On behalf of our entire family, along with Saby, we were very impressed with the love and support we had from Angel City players, staff, fans, the community and football fans across the country,” King’s family said in a statement. “I’m blessed to be able to share that Savy is recovering well and look forward to having her home soon.”
Angel City said King was on a break and that her “prognosis is excellent.”
The incident occurred 74 minutes into the match. Health workers joined the King for about 10 minutes before they could extend from the field and into the cart.
NWSL He said he would review the policy to see if changes need to be made when dealing with a medical emergency.

The rules state that the league “are aware that there can be emergencies that make it difficult or dangerous for participants and spectators to start or progress the game. Certain event categories automatically trigger an assessment of whether league offices need to be delayed or postponed.”
Authorities spent 12 minutes of stopping time on the clock and played until the end of the match. Angel City won 2-0.
Bay FC selected King on the second pick from North Carolina in the 2024 NWSL Draft. She played in 18 club games before being traded with Angel City in the offseason.
