Darnold loved what he saw when he faced the Seahawks in a 27-24 victory for the Vikings.
“We have great players on defense. We have great players on offense. Coach McDonald’s defense scheme really makes it difficult to oppose last year. “I’ve known him in San Francisco since 2023. When I ran there, I’m pretty used to the system. I think all of these factors are the reasons I fell in love with the decision to come to Seattle.
Finally, free agents are always looking at the chemistry and culture of their teams while on-field products and schemes respect the standards. Darnold saw it immediately.
“It’s been amazing to be here for the past few weeks and meet some of my teammates and coaches,” he explained. “And as I mentioned in Minnesota, you just meet some of the people in the building. I’ve heard of it in the league, so it’s just a special place. I’m hearing about good spots, bad spots, spots in between.

“Seattle has always been a place where guys love to go. They loved energy, their environment, and they really surpassed all my expectations. I’m so happy to be here.”

While Darnold is acquiring his bearings in his new city, he has confirmed that he will stop by the Seattle Store Ceremony at Skills National Sign Day, a celebration that reflects the excitement of athletic signatures for future electricians, plumbers, HVAC technology and builders.
Lowes deployed a blue carpet for students who were surprised by Seattle’s latest soccer star. This initiative is a hit near home for Darnold. His father, Mike, has been a plumber for over 30 years.
“It was incredible,” Darnold said of the experience. “I’ve seen the hard work he took on it in his life, so you can see these kids, see the efforts they’ve already put in and meet them and talk to them about the path they’re heading and how passionate they’re about.

“I think there are more opportunities in the world of skill trading. Me and my dad are talking about it. This means that there aren’t many kids doing it anymore. You can influence the community so that kids don’t even know they’re not even aware of it.”
