Ryan Lochte’s wife posts about ‘betrayal’ amid divorce

Kayla Lotte’s wife Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte posted on social media about his “betrayal” weeks after the couple announced they were getting divorced.

Reed posted a “Reminder” slideshow on Friday. She said she was talking about herself during her divorce from Lotte.

“You are stepping into the best chapters of your life. You need to heal first,” read the first slide. “Sometimes, God allows betrayal… because it leads to breakthroughs.

“Most people don’t know what I endured. They ignore their opinions. The truth always reveals itself,” reads another slide.

“Divorce is not the end of my story. It is the beginning of my rebirth,” she concluded.

Earlier this month, Reed and Lochte revealed that they are ready for divorce after seven years of marriage. TMZ reported Reed filed for divorce She said the decision earlier this year was “after deep prayer and reflection.”

“I respect marriage at its peak, so this was one of the most painful, obviously challenging seasons of my life. I hesitated to share until I could do so from a place of healing, not from a fresh, open wound.”

“We sometimes face trials that we don’t choose or see, and in that moment we are forced to make the most difficult decisions to protect peace, our children, and our future. I have always come to realize that this is not the most loving decision that someone can make.

Lochte then went to Instagram and stated, “It wasn’t easy.”

“I want to acknowledge what Kayla shared, and the last year has made a huge difference for both of us, leading to the difficult decision to end our marriage.

“This decision hasn’t been easy, but I think it’s the right step towards peace and happiness for both of us. I’m still committed to working together with healing, growth and respect as I move forward. I’d like to thank you for your continued support.

The couple got engaged in 2016 the same year Lotte was involved in a controversial incident at a gas station during the Rio Olympics. Lochte initially claimed he and his teammates were taken at the muzzle, but those with the guns were determined to be in fact security guards at the gas station where the swimmer urinated outside the bathroom. Lochte eventually lost four major sponsorships, and US Swimming stopped him for 10 months.
