Despite Trump’s posts, O’Donnell’s citizenship is unlikely to be in danger. The 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship to those born in the United States, and the actress was born in Comac, New York. Furthermore, many legal experts agree that the government cannot unilaterally revoke the citizenship of naturally-born citizens. One exception is when the government is able to prove that citizenship was obtained through fraud in the case of naturalization.
Additionally, individuals may revoke their citizenship if they serve foreign troops engaged in certain actions, including treason, hostilities against the United States, or waive citizenship.
