Teddi Mellencamp He’s outspoken about the incredible surveillance on her cancer journey and the lessons she has learned about being in charge of her health.
The star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” 44 revealed how the doctors missed out on a critical step in her melanoma surveillance process despite regular visits.
“When you go to the doctor, you think that’s it. I’m doing what I should,” Mellencamp said. Glamour. “In the beginning, I didn’t even really do research on melanoma because I didn’t want to know all the bad things.”

“There’s a difference between self-diagnosing yourself and being an advocate for your own health,” she told the outlet. “I never really thought about it because I go to the doctor every three months. Why don’t they let me check?”

According to Mellencamp, her highest stage melanoma was the period of her shoulder lesions.
Her previous diagnosis had not exceeded stage 1, so the doctor allegedly called to abandon her full body scan. Mellencamp considers it a major failure as he failed to catch her spread of melanoma.

“When I finally followed it up, they recalled, ‘We didn’t do a scan because we had nothing on stage one of your body,” she recalled. “But see what happened.”
Mellencamp urged others to play a more active role in healthcare.

“If you’re not feeling well, it’s really in favor of yourself and your health,” she said.
The reality star continues to receive treatment and keeps fans up to date via social media, where she shares not only her medical journey, but the emotional sacrifice it is being taken.
Mellencamp was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer earlier this year after it spread to the brain and lungs. She undergoes surgery to remove some masses, undergoes immunotherapy and radiation.
