House Energy and Commerce Chairman Brett Guthrie, along with fellow committee member lawmakers, Gary Palmer of Alabama and Morgan Griffith of Virginia, jointly stated in a statement from Republicans that the investigation of GGRF recipients was “key” to understand whether these funds are useful to the extent that they were “fair, fair and unequally used” for averthing and subject to “fair, fair and effective.”
“The committee has been concerned about the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund program since its creation, including concerns about the program’s unusual structure, a potential lack of due diligence in the selection of award recipients, and the ability of recipients to manage the large influx of federal dollars received from the EPA,” the lawmaker said in a statement.
“The recent monitoring and investigation subcommittee hearing that investigated these concerns, coupled with the speed at which money was pushed out the door by the Biden administration’s EPA, raised concerns for the committee and raised additional questions about recipients of certain greenhouse gas reduction funds.”
