Paul Simon was forced to cancel a series of concerts on Saturday after being injured.
“You can call me Al” singer “Suffering from chronic, severe back pain” forced the cancellation of the show on the East Coast.
According to a post shared on his Instagram account, Simon, 83, will undergo minor surgery in the “next few days.”
“unfortunately, Paul Simon Tonight, June 28th and tomorrow night, June 29th – we will have to cancel two shows at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia,” Simon shared online.

“Paul suffers from chronic, severe back pain. Today it’s become out of control and requires immediate attention.”

The statement continued. “Unfortunately, we need to cancel these shows. We don’t have the ability to reschedule these shows. However, after this minor surgical procedure scheduled in the coming days, Paul can complete the tour and consider returns to compensate for these dates.”

It is unknown that Simon will reschedule the concert, and concert participants were encouraged to contact their local ticket provider for a full refund.

The “Diamond in the Sole of Her Shoes” musician announced a “Quiet Celebration” tour in February, matching his “Seve Psalms” album. The tour was supposed to start in April and end in Seattle in August.

“This extraordinary artist evolution continues to unfold,” a press release from the time stated. “Simon chose to perform in an intimate venue where acoustics are optimal, given the severe hearing loss he has suffered over the past few years.”

In May 2023, Simon realized that most of his left ear hearings had disappeared while he was making the album.
“All of a sudden I lost most of my hearing in my left ear, and no one has explained it, so it’s all more difficult,” Simon told The Times.
“My reaction to it was frustration and annoying. It wasn’t anger yet, because I thought it would pass, so I’d fix it itself.”
In 2018, Simon announced he was. Retirement from the tour. In a social media post, he wrote, “I feel that travel and time from my wife and family will be at a cost that will undermine the joy of playing.”

His wife, Eddie Brickell, for over 30 years, sang a duet with him in the final section of “Seven Poetry Sal,” which includes lyrics.
The couple shares three children, Adrian Edward, Lulu and Gabriel Elijah.

Simon was previously married recently Carrie Fisher. The couple met in the late 70s, but did not get married until August 1983. They divorced less than a year later in July 1984.
