Baltimore Orioles After competing for the American League East title last season, the team fired manager Brandon Hyde on Saturday after a slow start in the 2025 season.
Baltimore lost on Friday Washington Nationals4-3, and fell 15-28 in the season.
Baltimore was in the final spot for Al East, who took part in Saturday’s game against the Nationals.

“As the head of the baseball business, it’s ultimately my fault for the poor start of our season,” Mike Elias, executive vice president and general manager of the Orioles, said in a news release. “Part of that responsibility is pursuing difficult changes to set up another course for the future.
“Brandon would like to thank him for his hard work, dedication, passion and for his years of bringing his team back into the playoffs and winning the AL East Championship. The organization and many positive contributions he has to offer to Baltimore remain.
Hyde was in his seventh year as an Orioles manager. He was with the team throughout the reconstruction year, reaching 54-108 in 2019 and 52-110 in 2021.

The Orioles were 101-61 in 2023 and 91-71 in 2024.
The team lost in the AL Division series in 2023. Al Wild Card Series last year.
“Brandon Hyde is someone I’ve come to know and deeply admire because of his extensive knowledge of baseball as well as his extraordinary leadership as a manager,” said David Reubenstein, the Orioles’ dominant owner. “We are truly grateful for his significant achievements over the past six years, which has benefited both the Orioles and the City of Baltimore.
“But, like with baseball, there’s a need for change and I believe this is one of those moments. The Orioles organization is truly grateful for everything Brandon has contributed during his tenure.
