Openai CEO Sam Altman explains how GPT-5 affects the business community and entrepreneurs in “Morning’s With Maria.”
Openai announced on Tuesday a new measure aimed at creating a safer experience for teens who use it chatgpt.
Enhanced teenage protection allows parents to link ChatGPT accounts with teenage accounts, control how ChATGPT responds to teenagers with age-appropriate model behavior rules, and manage the ability to disable them, including memory and chat history, the company said in a blog post.
“We prioritize safety before teen privacy and freedom. This is a new and powerful technology and we believe that minors need great protection,” says Openai CEO Sam Altman I wrote it in an accompanying blog post.
Parents will also be notified when the system detects a teenager. This is an acutely painful moment, a function that Openai is directed to expert input.

“If a user under the age of 18 has suicidal ideation, they will try to contact the user’s parents and, if not possible, will contact the authorities in case of immediate harm,” writes Altman.

Openai said it is also working on technology that will help predict the age of users.
“If you have any doubts, play safely and by default you will have an experience under the age of 18,” writes Altman. “In some cases, we ask for an ID. We know this is a compromise on adult privacy, but we think it’s a valuable trade-off.”

Altman said he understands that Openai doesn’t agree with how it resolves the conflict between teenage protections over freedom and privacy.

“These are difficult decisions, but after talking to experts, this is what we think is the best and we want to be transparent with our intentions,” he wrote.
