president Donald Trump Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem said Sunday to help send 2,000 National Guard soldiers to Los Angeles and help “keep peace” as immigrant protests rioted into riots, to prevent repeated unrest in 2020 by the Democratic governor of Minnesota, which “burned” 2020.
Noem worked on the deployment of the National Guard when he appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” saying Trump has the safety of the community and law enforcement officers at the very top of his mind.
“President Trump has placed the safety of our communities affected by these riots and these violent protests, and he has put the safety of our law enforcement officials first,” Noem said.

Noem said the National Guard would help with security in some areas, but she said she would not talk about the exact location where the troops will be deployed in certain security operations.

“They are there at the president’s direction to maintain peace and enable people to not only protest, but also to maintain law and order,” she said of the National Guard. “That’s very important to the president.”
