Colin Granger, former Division 1 basketball player from Ohio University, West Carolina; Coastal Carolinaattempts to convert to an NFL tight end.
The 6-foot-8, 245-pound Granger has been removed from high school for five years and has been announced as a signer for the Panthers as he is permitted to join the team as a free agent.

Granger was a centre during his college career. Ohio Universityfinishing in Coastal Carolina for two seasons in West Carolina.
He was a 52.3% shooter from the field in his career, earning a total of 322 rebounds on three different programs. He earned an impressive career with 137 rebounds in Coastal Carolina.

Now, the Panthers Brass have a history of converting former basketball players into NFL caliber pieces, as head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan did with the Seattle Seahawks.
Standing at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, the Fant played basketball in western Kentucky and was converted to a hybrid offensive tackle and tight end. He ultimately played seven seasons in total with Seattle, the New York Jets and the Houston Texans.

ESPN Report The Fant was working with Granger to prepare for the transition, and he was the one who told the Panthers about his potential.
However, Granger has never been on the soccer field since eighth grade, so the transition is not expected to be easy.
But of course, this is nothing new, especially in the tight end position. Think Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham, and The Great Tony Gonzalez.
