ESPN draft analyst Melkipper Jr. was one of Sanders’ solid advocates and was shocked by his fall. Cleveland Browns. After Sanders was chosen, the frustrated broadcaster was teeed off with the team, leading to a clash between him and his colleague Lek Davis.

NFL analyst Louis Riddick explained to Kipper that he wanted him to play the position from a team’s perspective, not on whether Sanders can play quarterback.
The bewildered Kipper couldn’t understand why the team didn’t want Sanders, considering he was “one of the toughest quarterbacks you’ve ever seen.” Riddick replied, “This is personal” as to why Sanders fell. Kipper added that Sanders had no “off-field issues.”
Davis later agreed to Riddick when he said “the draft spoke.”
“That’s the key, Mel. It’s not making the judgment of the value that passed is right or wrong. They did. So, now whenever you’re in a life situation, whether you like them, whether you don’t like them, whether they’re fair or not, or they’re unfair, you might have to deal with them,” Davis said. “And now, Chedure Sanders has to deal with them.

“And for some reason, whether it’s a microscopic percentage, a zero percentage, or a legitimate criticism of how he did himself during the draft process for a minute, and now he has the opportunity to answer that.
Kuiper held the league accountable for not having a proper rating on the quarterback.
“Boomer Esiason wasn’t happy when he was his second pick,” Kiper said. “Tom Brady wasn’t happy. They fell. What will happen?
“They don’t know what they’re doing in terms of evaluating quarterbacks. That’s the evidence. There’s evidence for that. They can say, “We know exactly what we’re talking about at the quarterback.” They don’t. ”
The debate continued from there as Kuiper defended Sanders because he exuded confidence before the draft.
