Late Thursday, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Thursday directing President Donald Trump to return control of the National Guard to California.
The order, which came into effect at noon Friday, said the deployment of security guards was illegal and both violated the 10th Amendment, exceeding Trump’s legal authority.
The Trump administration appealed that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily blocked the federal judge’s order several hours later.
The court said it would hold a hearing on the matter on June 17th.
