“This game is just as business as soccer,” Pickens said. “It’s like my control. I’m happy to be here in Dallas and continue the culture of victory they have.”
The Pickens have undoubtedly been Pittsburgh’s best reception option for the past three seasons, but manager Mike Tomlin has publicly called out Pickens after provoking and carrying a sportsman-like penalty. The Pickens also began a discussion with fans in the stands.
“You just have to grow up, man,” Tomlin said last season. “It’s an emotional game. The games in these divisions are big. He has a target on his back because he’s George. He understands that, but he has to grow. He has to grow in a hurry.”
Tomlin made these comments after the Steelers 44-38 won the road in week 13, and after the Pickens evaluated the penalties for provocative, sportsman-like behavior.
