“It’s painful, but it’s just not something I did,” David Zucker told Fox News Digital.
“But you know, I don’t want to bash what they’re doing, but I want to do it. But that’s not what I did, it’s not our style. It’s odd to see that.”
Zucker directed the original 1988 comedy, “The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!” It stars Leslie Nielsen and co-written by his brothers Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Pat Propheto.

“Jim Abraham said he was asked when he was doing Q and A, “Why have you never seen ‘Airplane II’?” And Jim said, “If your daughter becomes a prostitute, will you go and see her work?”
“The ‘naked gun’ and ‘airplane’, these are our babies. And we imagined it and spent a lot of time doing it. And when I was removed from the remake, it was a bit of a surprise to me. ”

“Family Guy” creator MacFarlane is the producer of the reboot, directed by Akiba Shaffer, a Lonely Island alumnus starring Neeson, Pamela Anderson and Paul Walterhauser.

And these are not bad people, they adore, they love “naked guns”, “top secrets”! ,”plane!” Seth MacFarlane I’ve been offering homage to “Family Guy” and it’s a great thing. ”
“He called me and for ten minutes he told me how much he loved my films. But when I first heard he was going to do it, I helped him by wearing a hat in my hand. He didn’t want to see me.

“We learned that there are rules. We wrote a book called ‘Surely You Can’t Be Be Theering’. It’s a true story of “Airplane!” “And we put in 15 rules for comedy. But what we’re doing is very specific and just being a fan doesn’t mean you can do it. ”

Zucker says that he and the professor’s script, along with Mike McManus, would have taken a “fresh approach” and that he and the professor “were not even a cop film.”
“It was a ‘naked gun’, but it’s a spoofing “Mission Impossible” “Bone’s Identity” and Bond, and Bond with the son of a young man Drevin. It must have been Andy Samberg. We had a fresh approach with the young cast. Don’t try to swap Leslie Nielsen. No matter how good he is, it’s just an old man. ”

The peculiarity of Zucker and his team in comedy styling led to the discovery of young people Val Kilmermade her feature film debut as Nick Rivers, a pop star like Elvis from “Top Secret!”
“Jerry, Jim and I were casting ‘Top Secret!’ And this was mid-1983 and we couldn’t find the Nick Rivers we wanted,” he recalled. “So, finally, casting director Susie Jacobson has this actor in this play called “Slab Boys” in New York, so we jumped on the plane and watched the play from Broadway along with Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon and Val Kilmer.
He added, “I mean, I don’t remember much about the play, but I thought he thought it was. [was a] A very charismatic and handsome man. I’m going on a date with him, but you know, that’s a different story. ”

Zaz had an audition for Kilmer and they thought he was great, and the young actor made the version of Elvis’ song “Turn Me Rowe,” which sold them.
“The way he did it was interesting,” Zucker said. “He just blew us away.”
Zucker remembers that Kilmer was “a little uncomfortable” in the first few weeks of filming, and later realizes that part of the problem came down to the character.
“Val is this Juilliard-trained actor and we were doing the stupidest movies. He had to star in a cow with boots. It was crazy,” he said.

“Shelle comes out of the set and she’s such a lovely woman, but she keeps saying this is a monumentally stupid movie. It flops at the box office, meaning you don’t mind that she was right.

Although “Top Secret!” was not the first film in Thez, Zucker feels that the team has learned some lessons from the experience.
He recalls Abrahams, who several years later thought Kilmer’s discomfort with the character was “our fault.”
“We were wrong Lessons from “Airplane!” This is because you were filling the 80-minute movie with jokes, so you got it,” Zucker explained.

“What we learned, and this is one of the things you learn. I mean, I’m old enough to learn something – you need to create a character. You have to have a character with an arc in your main lead, so he has to have a problem, he has to learn something in Act 2 and he has to solve it in Act 3,” the 77-year-old said.
He explained it in “Airplane!” There was Reid’s plot and character arc, Robert Hayes, but it was parodyed from the existing plot of the film Zero Hour, and there were no identical templates and rules to follow “Top Secret!”.
“Every film was a great experience, but most of the time we learned lessons from doing the wrong thing and were able to put them in rules where people who “naked guns” don’t know the rules. But I think they are good people anyway. ”
