Minnesota Twins The Minnesota Links then expressed their sadness in response to the shootings of two state politicians and their spouses.
Democrats – Farmer – Labor Party (DFL) speaker emerita Melissa Hortman And her husband, Mark Hortman, was fatally shot in Brooklyn Park by a suspect impersonating a police officer, police said.
DFL Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were also shot at Champlin in the related shooting.

“The Minnesota twins are horrified and heartbroken by the attempt to kill Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, as well as Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.” The twins’ statement said. “Our deepest sympathy for the Hortmans, and our prayers, are for the Hoffmans, for a full recovery. We stand with all Minnesotans who condemn these meaningless acts of violence.”

The suspect was wearing black body armor, badges and taser, and seemed indistinguishable from true law enforcement, police said. He also drove a police-style SUV with flashing lights.

Waltz was “cautiously optimistic” about Hoffman and his wife’s survival. Both were photographed multiple times.
“This was an act of targeted political violence,” Waltz said. “Peaceful discourse is the foundation of our democracy. We don’t resolve the violence and their differences at the muzzle in Minnesota.”
