“Ransom Canyon” star Minka Kelly She thought she had finished working in Hollywood before she got a role on the hit Netflix show.
Recent appearances”Today with Jenna and friends“The 44-year-old actress wondered if she would be cast on Netflix’s latest hit show as her time as an actress approached the end.
“All the work that finishes, you… and you think it’s like time passes. And you say, “OK, this is it. I had a good run. It’s fine. Everything is fine. I have a backup.”
In the new show, Kelly plays the musician and owner of the town’s local dance hall. They must choose from two rebuttal ranchers, stuck in a love triangle and played by Eoin Macken and Josh Duhamel.

Kelly first became a popular name when she starred as Lyla Garity on the hit show.”Friday night lights“From 2006 to 2009. Since then, she has appeared in a variety of projects, including “Just Go With It,” “Jane the Virgin,” and “Euphoria.”

After more than 20 years in the business, Kelly says her experience playing Quinn O’Grady in “Ransom Canyon” was her favorite job “for many reasons.”
“The main reason I’m just in the best place I’ve ever had is that I can really be in a different way than before,” she explained. “The sense of comfort that comes with life experiences and maybe a woman in her 40s.”
She has been successful in Hollywood, but admits that she considers “always” to return to her career as scrub technology in the operating room.

“I think it gives me a little confidence,” she explained. “This isn’t the whole world, so the rejection of you being an actor is kind of balanced for me in that I can go.
The show was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Kelly grew up. When talking to Jenna Bush Hager Andy Cohen On “The Today Show,” Kelly admits that the idea of returning to her hometown was “scary,” but when she was there she “wasn’t that scary.”
In her 2023 memoir, “Tell Me Everything,” Kelly unveiled about her rough childhood, growing up with a single mother who worked as an exotic dancer. She went to strip clubs with her mother as a child and detailed stories of her experiences of physical abuse and peep shows at an adult video store to achieve her goals.
“It was simply a surreal and beautiful way to put a bow across that story to make peace. And the universe “Let’s see how much peace you made with it,” she said of returning to Albuquerque to film the show. “You’re just like, ‘Wow, I have my powers.’ ”
