Melissa Gilbert abandoned the Hollywood charm and appeared in “The Little House of Prairie on the Prairie.”
The actress, who starred as Laura Ingalls, recently appeared in “Hay Dude… The Call of the 90s!” We opened up about the podcast and what the audition looks like for her role in the film.
“The Little House of Prairie” aired from 1974 to 1983.
“I’ll be changing into my audition uniform. These were overalls, flannel shirts and tennis shoes,” recalled the 61-year-old. People Magazine.

“I was at school one day and in the lunch area. And I said, ‘Yeah, I.” She said, ‘I’m Leslie Landon, and my dad says you’ll be a half-pint.”
According to the outlet, Leslie heard the news at a family dinner the night before. It was where the Patriarch declared, “We have found Laura.”
“We obviously didn’t have a cell phone at the time,” Gilbert said. “So I scream into the office and tell them I have to call my mother right away. My agent didn’t know yet. My mother didn’t know yet. Leslie got so in trouble. We’ve been really close friends since that day.

“I was really sad and I remember my dad… I was sitting in the garage,” she said. “My dad made furniture when he wasn’t on the road when he wasn’t working. So I was in his tool shop and he told me, “Just because you didn’t get this, it’s fine. That just means better.”

In 2024, Gilbert told Fox News Digital that he must leave Los Angeles and age gracefully.
“I saw myself in the mirror a few years ago,” recalls Gilbert. “I lived in Los Angeles and didn’t know who I was. I had overexposed my face and lips. My forehead didn’t move. I still dyed my hair red. I was driving a Mustang convertible. I was size 2 in an unhealthy way.
“I was stuck,” admitted Gilbert. “I could feel myself fighting it, and I told myself, ‘It’s time to get older.’ I had to leave Los Angeles and be specific, not Hollywood. ”

Gilbert said she and her husband, actor Timothy Basfield, have moved. To his hometown in Michigan After the 2013 wedding.
They lived there for five years. She felt free to eventually get older.
“I’m going to stop coloring my hair,” she explained. “I had it [my] The breast implants have been removed. I decided to become the best healthy version of myself without looking at this pressure in a specific way.

In 2019, Gilbert and Basfield purchased a rustic cottage 14 acres of Mount Catskill. Life today has been “incredibly fulfilling,” she said.

“That’s amazing,” Gilbert erupted. “I love being this age. It’s not much fun about it. I don’t like it when my ankles hurt in the morning or when my skin gets dry. Aging isn’t for the shishi, but it certainly is better than the alternative.
