“The similarities between the proposed animation series and my client’s work seem to be more than just a coincidence, and there are more strikes,” Elliott’s lawyers allegedly wrote in 2021 for Markle and Netflix.
As Elliott told the Daily Mail, “The arts and media world is very competitive and I think it’s very common for powerful people to tear the work of lesser known creatives apart.
“What made me saddest was the parallels between my “pearl” and Meghan’s “pearl.” Netflix Notes And my objection was never accepted — neither Netflix nor Archewell responded to me when I wanted to contribute and cooperate,” she added.

Elliott’s series focuses on equality and women’s empowerment.
“Pearl” was cancelled in May 2022.
“We are delighted that Meghan’s ‘Pearl’ show has been dropped. I hope it has something to do with that,” Elliott said. “But what I really wanted was that it went ahead and that I was recognized and invited to work as a collaborator in the series.”
“‘Pearl’ was my dream project, but now it’s annoying that if I recreate my creation, I’ll look like I’ve copied an idea from someone else,” she added.
