Major League Wrestling (MLW) star Matt Riddle offered a sunny realization for professional wrestlers amid a recent prominent departure last week.
WWE has parted ways with superstars including Brown Strowman, Dakota Kai, Shayna Basser, Kaden Carter, Katana Chance, Kora Jade, Gigi Dolan, Riley Osborne, Eddie Thorpe, Jakara Jackson, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffee, Wolfghan, Oro Mensa and Joviel Bernard. Riddle broke up with the company in September 2023, and was also released as a WWE release. He then performed at New Japan Pro Wrestling, a Lucha Libre AAA all over the world, and made the indelible mark in MLW by becoming a world heavyweight champion.
He told Fox News Digital that having the opportunity to perform at a high level elsewhere proved to be a “blessing.”
“It depends on what you do when you get fired. It’s always a shame when people lose their jobs, but for some of us, for example, I say it was a blessing,” Riddle said. “Sometimes, you just need the right push, sometimes it may be necessary for someone to close the door to you so that others can open it.

“Trust me, it’s finished or it might look like it sucks, but it might suck, but when one door closes, another door opens. Even when I got back that day and fired from the UFC, I came where I went today. And I was fired about a year ago, the championship.
“To be fired from time to time is a blessing of disguise.”
Riddle returned to MLW at the Kings of the Colosseum in 2024, winning Battle Liot VI that year. In January King of the Colosseumhe defeated Kojima Atoshi for the World Heavyweight Championship.
He then successfully defended it in a triple threat match with Kojima, Alex Kane And against the other 39 men in the battle riots VII.

On Saturday, he will face Donovan Dihak on Chicago’s Aztec Lucha title defense. The event will be held at Cicero Stadium and can be viewed on YouTube at 10pm.
