
Perhaps the biggest story coming out of Augusta National Golf Club this week is to include the 2009 Angel Cabrera Master The winner playing despite multiple beliefs about threats and harassment towards two of his ex-girlfriends.
Cabrera spent almost two years in prisons in Brazil and Argentina before being released on parole in August 2023. He was later allowed to play PGA Tour The championship event was held later that year.
Cabrera was given the time he spent in prison for his crimes and was asked by a reporter if he was “fit” to play for Masters of the year.

“We won the Masters,” Cabrera said. New York Post. “Why not?”
Regardless of age or rank on the world stage, Master winners receive a lifetime exemption to play in tournaments every year, and Cabrera uses it.

He also participated in the annual Champions Dinner on Tuesday night after his practice round.
“Life has given me another opportunity,” he added. “I have to use it to do the right thing on this second opportunity. Obviously, I regret what happened and you will learn from them.”
Cabrera has won her first golf tournament since being released from prison and won the PGA Tour Champions event at James Hardy Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational. He shot an 11-under par to ring a victory over KJ Choi and Letoi Fugusen.

“All that’s here and having a chance to win over the last few years has been very emotional,” he said after winning.
There are many people calling the Augusta National Golf Club to make Cabrera playable, but others are excited to meet him, like 2013 Masters winner Adam Scott.
“It’s a happy thing for me. We have a fairly long history,” Scott said of Cabrera on Sunday before Masters Week. “I first met on the European tour before we both joined the PGA Tour. We played the Presidential Cup. We were partners.”

Cabrera will tee off in their first round at the Masters at 10:59am Thursday with Laurie Canter and Adam Schenk.
