The retired wallpaper designer transformed the 19th century train carriage into a luxurious Airbnb stay at the original train station.
Nigelbrook, 68, lives in an old British railway station that has since restored railcars in the Great West since 1895.
Trains stopped running through the area in the 1950s, but today’s guests can book in the evening Vintage carriage For around $260 thanks to Brooke’s $35,000 restoration project.
“It’s beautiful, and it’s very unique here,” Brook said as reported by news agency SWNS.
The exterior has been repainted using original colors supplied from historical railway drawings, but the interior features period wallpaper, beds and stoves.

“I designed it all Interior decorationbut that led me to the original work I found during the restoration,” Brooke said.
The carriage originally drove in metropolitan areas before it was abolished in 1940.

“It was chocolate brown everywhere,” he told SWNS. “It somehow became a static artisan carriage.”
“It’s beautiful and very unique here.”
Brooke bought the carriage for about $10,000. He transported it to its current location on the road, he said.
It currently stands on a concrete wall built to fit the station platform, providing step-by-step access to guests.

“One side was covered in tin — it must have been placed there in the 50s or 40s to protect one side,” he said.

Despite the age of the structure, many of the original oak frames were in good condition.
“All I had to do was to carefully remove it, which was rotten and then replicate it and reconstruct it using the original bit,” Brooke told SWNS.

“It’s pretty early for the carriage in 1895. If it’s not recovered, it’s heading towards a collapse of that age,” he added.
“This will be good for a long time.”

Brook originally bought the station in his 30s in the 1980s. He said he was fortunate to find such a historic property.

“I was very fortunate to acquire such a lovely old historic building,” he said.
The Airbnb offering has proven popular with guests who are attracted to its charm and railroad heritage, SWNS noted.

Brook is currently planning to expand his product by converting the station’s old waiting room into an additional guest space with an en-owned bathroom.

“I might turn one of the waiting rooms into an Airbnb with a dedicated bush, so if people stay in this carriage, they can stay in the waiting room at the station house if they have friends,” he said.
