Maine representative Laurel Libby Five months after she was accused of a social media post identifying a trans athlete, she was restored to her speech rights by fellow state lawmakers on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court has recovered Libby’s right to vote on May 20 after she filed a lawsuit in response to the accusations. However, her right to speak has been withheld from her until now. Libby had overturned the complete accusation by filing a lawsuit against Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecto.
Libby told Fox News Digital that she walked to the state capital on Wednesday, where she didn’t know that her rights to speak today would be restored, and she and others were preparing to postpone.

Shortly before the postponement, House majority leader Lori Gramrich proposed a resolution that would restore Libby’s full voting and speech rights. The solution was voted 115-16.
“It was a surprise. It was our 33rd supplement and it was on the floor within minutes,” Libby said.
Libby’s accusations were first passed on February 25th with a 75-70 vote. Libby said he was not given a reason for Wednesday’s surprise resolution that ended the blame. But she believes it is due to the momentum in her lawsuit and the growing public opposition to women’s sports trans athletes.
“The Democrats know they’re losing on this issue. They know that the majority of Americans, not just the main, do not agree with their extreme attitude of allowing biological men to participate in women’s sports,” Libby said. “I know they’re losing on that issue. They know they’re losing in court regarding my case I filed… and they know they’re losing, so this is the best way for them to save their faces.”
Maine teens after enduring the chaos of trans athletes in high school
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that only requires states that allow women to compete, but multiple Democrat-run states, including Maine, have ignored the order and continued to allow transport.
The U.S. Department of Justice and Attorney General Pam Bondy filed their own lawsuits against Maine for continuing to ignore the order.
Libby was a central figure in a conservative pushback to Democratic policy that would allow Maine to include trans into women’s sports. In addition to her lawsuit against Fecteau, Libby has been repeatedly critical of the factory for refusing to comply with Trump.
It started in February when she created a Facebook post identifying a trans athlete who won the girls’ pole vault competition at Greeley High School. However, she and her lawyers argued that the trans athletes have already been made public in other media.
The same trans athlete skipped the Spring Track and Field State Championship in early June.

a Surveys by research The American Parents Union found that of around 600 registered Maine voters, 63% agreed that school sports participation should be based on biological sex, while 66% agreed that “it’s fair to limit women’s sports to biological women.”
Many Maine residents, even across the school district, faced Mills’ policies with Libby. Maine school districts RSU No. 24 and MSAD No. 70 have each passed their own localized resolution to maintain a female student-only girl spot. There have also been three major protests since February against Augusta’s current policy.
