Liverpool FC Player Diogo Jota and his brother died early Thursday in Spain after a Lamborghini crashed near a western city in Zamora, causing the car to burn, police said.
The 28-year-old forward’s death comes less than two months after he lifts it up. Premier League A trophy in front of a crowd of loud Anfield homes to celebrate the Liverpool title-winning season. In late June, Jota married Root Kaldoso.
“The Liverpool Football Club is devastated by the tragic passage of Diogojota,” the team said in a statement Thursday. “Liverpool FC has not commented any further at this time and is requesting the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff.
“It makes no sense,” global football star and Al Nassl forward Cristiano Ronaldo added in an Instagram post. “Just now, we were together on the national team. You were just married. To your family, your wife and children, I send my pitiful dol and wish them all the power of the world.

Spanish civil security confirmed to the Associated Press that Jota and his brother were found dead after the car got off the road in an accident that happened earlier this morning.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and police added that there are no other vehicles involved. Authorities said firefighters were called as a fire from Lamborghini spread to nearby vegetation.
Jota also played for the Portuguese national team and helped win the Nations League last month. His 25-year-old brother Andre Silva performed with Portuguese club Penafiel in the lower division.

Jota transferred to Liverpool from the English club Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and won Three major trophies Together with them, they appeared in the final Champions League match against Real Madrid in 2022.
During his tenure at Liverpool, Jota scored 47 goals in 123 appearances.

The Portuguese Football Federation has issued a statement lamenting his death. Federation President Pedro Proenza said Portuguese football was “completely devastated.”
“Over the incredible player with nearly 50 appearances on the national team, Diogo Jota was an extraordinary figure and was respected by all his colleagues and enemies. He had a contagious delight and was a reference to the community,” Proenza said in a statement.
Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro commented on the “unexpected and tragic” death. He said Jota was “an athlete who greatly praised Portugal’s name.”
