Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James After he and his team were eliminated from the first round of the NBA playoffs on Wednesday night, they faced questions about his NBA future.
Minnesota Timberwolves They beat the Lakers in Game 5 and won the series 4-1. James did not appear to have made any concrete decisions about moving forward with his career.

“I don’t have an answer to that,” James said when asked how long he would be playing. “I’ll sit with my wife and my support group and just talk through it and see what happens. Converse with yourself about how long I want to play. Honestly, I don’t know the answer right now.”
Every year, the bubble season may have been the year James finally left the game. However, in season 22, he played several games with his son Bronnie, which appears to have shortened his results checklist.
James averaged 24.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in 70 Lakers appearances this season. Los Angeles took the third seed in the Western Conference playoffs. It was the first time he’d finished with under 25 points per game since the 2003-2004 rookie season.

He scored 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 103-96 loss on Wednesday.
“It’s up to me whether you’re trying to keep playing or whether you’re going to keep playing,” James said. “It’s up to me in the end, so it has nothing to do with other people.”
There was no indication that James wouldn’t come back. Lakers 2025-26 season. He has a $52.6 million player option next year and will become an unlimited free agent after that.
James will break the NBA’s longevity record if he wins the floor next season. He is also the 49 regular season games behind Robert Parrish, with most of the games being played.
