The Kentucky Executive Ethics Committee decided to conduct an investigation Wednesday. US Senate candidate Daniel Cameron Due to allegations that the then Kentucky Attorney General and a candidate for governor, date back to July 2023, that he sought a donation of a campaign from a company his office was investigating at the time.
“What’s happening to me is what they’ve done to President Trump: the shameless weaponization of government to take away their political enemies,” Daniel Cameron told Fox News Digital in an exclusive statement. “This is the first major case of Democrat law in the 2026 cycle, and the timing is no coincidence. I’m leading the GOP field by more than 20 points. It’s clear that the left is the most feared.”

The Associated Press reported in July 2023. An attorney representing Edgewater Recovery Centers said the organization received a call from Cameron and then called by a campaigner organising a fundraiser.

Fox News Digital spoke to a source close to Edgewater on Thursday on Thursday when it said fundraising plans quickly dissipated and campaign funds were returned almost immediately as soon as the deal and phone details were released.
Cameron’s current U.S. Senate campaign confirmed to Fox that Cameron rejected himself from an investigation in the Attorney General’s office in Edgewater as soon as the matter caught his attention, cancelled the event and cancelled the check for refunds to executives.

Fox News Digital reported earlier this week that Beshear’s name could be included in the mix in 2028 due to a potential Democratic presidential candidate.

The news of the investigation is that former Senator Mitch McConnell soon has Cameron’s campaign for US Senators in earnest. Republican Rep. Andy Barr is the only other declared GOP candidate in the race.
