“This isn’t one of the races where your favorites take the most money away. People look for horses that are better and more valuable,” Abelo said.

“They bet on this derby, they bet Exactas, Trifectas, Superfectas. There were some superfectors who paid six numbers. Even if you win, place, or pretend, you’ll usually get a pretty good shaking for your bet.
It’s difficult to win a lot of money from your favorite small bets, and therefore a creative bet.
“No one will get rich from the derby unless you hit a crazy superfector. But you’re always looking for some value in the race. When you win and hit the lightning bolts with the bottle, you really want to be excited,” Abelo added.
DraftKings also participates in the party. New users can use the first $5 bet on the winner, so if the choice wins, they split a million dollar pot on the same bet.
