“Out of an abundance of caution, the company is advising the owners of these vehicles to park them away from structures and other vehicles until a remedy is available,” Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company, said in a statement.
The automaker said the risk is lower once the battery runs out of charge.

Jeep launched an internal investigation after reviewing customer data and discovering 19 fires related to plug-in hybrid models.
Stellantis provided an official statement via email to FOX Business, saying a fix is ​​coming soon and owners will be notified when repairs can be scheduled.
The recall also includes: 20,700 units 2,600 units in Canada, 2,600 units in Mexico, and approximately 32,000 units in other markets outside North America.

The recall comes about two months after Stellantis recalled more than 91,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hybrids in the U.S. due to a software defect that could cause a loss of drive power.
In some 2022-2026 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, the battery pack control module microprocessor can become overloaded and cause a reset. Of the 91,787 potentially affected vehicles, only 1%, or about 918, appear to be defective, according to the NHTSA website.

Similar vehicles not covered by this recall include: hybrid control processor NHTSA says it was constructed after the affected period.
In a similar announcement earlier this year, NHTSA announced that Stellantis would recall more than 63,000 Jeep Cherokees from 2017 to 2019 model years due to an issue with the vehicle’s power transmission unit.

In November, Stellantis announced it would indefinitely lay off more than 1,000 employees at its Jeep assembly plant in Ohio as the company drastically reduced inventory levels to meet demand.
