Jay Reno made a vow to stand by his wife Mavis in illness and health nearly 45 years ago, and he is stuck with it.

The comedian pointed out that he enjoys everything that comes with being a caregiver for his wife. Mainly it is the fact that they can spend time together.
After assuming this new role, when asked what he had learned about himself, Reno said he was “never particularly challenged.”

“I enjoy time with my wife. Go home, make dinner for her, watch TV. It’s fine. That’s basically what we did before.

He continued, “I’m just having sex with them and saying, ‘This guy is attractive and sexy.’ At some point in my life, I am asked to protect myself… I think that really defines marriage. In other words, it’s really love. That’s what you do.
“I mean, I’m happy I didn’t cut and run, I’m happy I didn’t run with half my age or that stupid nonsense woman.

Reno pointed out that their time at home together was filled with laughter.
“I know you’re telling people with dementia that they’ll forget who they’re with,” he said. “But I like the photos of flashcards: do you remember? huh? yeah. That’s a bit funny. “Ah, not me.” “Yeah, that was you… you have to find some humor in it.”
