Secret Service is currently investigating after former FBI director James Comey posted a Seashells Instagram photo arranged to create the number “86 47.”
Comey later deleted the post after online backlash from government officials, lawmakers and presidents Donald Trump’s son. Trump faces two assassination attempts. One of them is the result of him being shot and a bystander being killed.
Posts containing a questionable “hit” show the numbers of issues etched into sand on the beach using shells. “A cool shell formation on my beach walk…” Comey captioned her Thursday post. To some people, the numbers may seem harmless, but “86” is frequently used as a call sign to kill or remove someone, while “47” is interpreted as indicating the 47th president of the United States.

Following a social media backlash from at least one lawmaker who called for Comey to be arrested, the former FBI chief deleted the post shared with his Instagram and issued a message covering it.
“I previously posted some husk photos I saw today on the beach walk. I thought this was a political message.” “I didn’t realize that some people were linking those numbers to violence. It never happened to me, but I stolen the post because I am against any kind of violence.”
Shortly after Comey deletes the post, Fox News Digital learns that it is aware of the issue from the secret service source and dispatches an agent to investigate and interview former director Comey.

The FBI, who worked before Comey was fired by Trump in his first term, did not comment on the issue, but it was also clear that top-level agents knew about the post.
Trump’s new FBI director, Kas Patel, On X, the agency official admitted that he was “recognized” Comey’s post in his own statement shared on X.
“We’re in touch with Secret Service and Director Karan,” Patel said. “The main jurisdiction lies in the SS on these issues and the FBI provides all the necessary support.”

The former FBI chief’s social media slips a sniffing into the February 2020 incident involving comedian and actor John Mulany. During the opening monologue of Saturday Night Live, Murany committed a joke referring to the assassination of Trump and the Roman dictator Julius Caesar, ultimately urging an investigation by the FBI.
“Another thing that happened under Julius Caesar, he was such a powerful maniac that all the senators grabbed a knife, and they stabbed him.
In response to Comey’s post, the White House quickly condemned the White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Interior Secretary Taylor Budwich for calling the move “deeply concerned.”

“President Trump is currently on an international trip to the Middle East, but the former FBI director gives a clear interpretation of a “hit” to a sitting US president. “The message etched into the sand” wrote X.
Meanwhile, R-Tenn was supported by Trump in 2024. Rep. Tim Burchett of the group went a step further and called for Comey to be arrested after his controversial post.
