Authorities said in April that Miller, Brett Gardner’s 14-year-old son, was killed. Caused by carbon monoxideHowever, authorities are reportedly investigating whether it was a murder.
Gardner’s family Miller’s death has been announced On March 23rd, two days after he passed away. Authorities ruled the cause of death on April 3 after investigating both food poisoning and choking.
However, spokesman for the Costa Rica prosecutor’s office said he would handle the case, according to ESPN. The case is under investigation and prosecutors are still deciding whether the death would be deemed a murder.

“The purpose of the investigation is to accurately determine whether we are dealing with the possibility of murder, and for this reason it is impossible to confirm or rule out that a crime has been committed,” the spokesman said.
Miller was tested for carboxyhemoglobin, a compound produced when carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin in the blood. This test showed a saturation level of 64%. If carboxyhemoglobin saturation exceeds 50%, it is considered fatal.
The Gardners stayed at the Arena del Mar Hotel in Manuel Antonio.
Several members of the family fell ill during the trip, Gardner announced.

“There are very few questions and answers at this point, but I know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st,” the family statement read. “Miller is our beloved son and brother, and we still can’t understand our lives without his infectious smile. He loved soccer, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, his family and his friends. He lived his life to the fullest every day.”

Gardner was that outfielder. New York Yankees He appeared on the team in 14 seasons in 2009 when he won his final World Series title. He spent his entire career in the Bronx, where he last played in 2021.
