International Boxing Association (IBA) President Umar Klemrev demands that Algerian boxer Iman Kerif’s Olympic gold medal will be stripped to achieve “transparency and openness.”
Keriff won a gold medal in women’s boxing 2024 Parish Games Under intense scrutiny from the IBA, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2023 amid concerns about the governance of the organization, financial dependence on the Russian national energy company Gazprom, and the integrity of the match.

Khelif was previously disqualified from the IBA for failing gender eligibility tests. Kremlev claimed at the time that unpublished DNA test results showed that Khelif had an Xy chromosome.

The IOC defended the outcome of the Paris game, saying that Keriff and another boxer, facing concerns about gender eligibility, was the victim of a “sudden arbitrary decision by the IBA.” Keriff also publicly denies being transgender.
In February, World Boxing was tentatively recognized by the IOC as a governing body for the sport. New Gender Eligibility Policy Therefore, athletes need to undergo forced sexual testing.
The policy change comes as the US prepares to host the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. However, for Klemrev, there is not enough chance that Kerif will miss out on international competition. In an interview with solar, He called for the boxer’s gold medal to be cancelled.

“I really believe medals are a good fit. We have to protect athletes and give them the best conditions,” he said. “I’m here for truth, transparency, openness, and now the truth is revealed.
“There should be no unfair fights in boxing, and the League of Nations should take care of athletes.”
Khelif did not compete in the international boxing tournament held in the Netherlands last month after not registering in time before the application ended.
Kremlev’s comments follow a bold statement from new IOC president Kirsty Coventry last month, who said there was “overwhelming support” to protect the women’s sports category.

“We understand that there are differences depending on the sport, but it was very clear from our members that first and foremost, the women’s categories must be protected to ensure fairness,” Coventry said.
“But we need to do that by including a scientific approach and the League of Nations, which already does a lot of work in this field.”
