The major victory of socialist 33-year-old Zohran Mamdani shocked the founding of the Democrats this June.
Scrolling through Mamdani’s social media, his ticoku and Instagram pages look similar to those of New York City influencers. However, if his social media strategy wasn’t enough to attract voters’ attention, the main colours of his campaign graphics could turn his head. Mamdani’s cobalt blue, poster-like red, taxi cab or Metrocard yellow is brighter compared to former government’s Andrew Cuomo’s muted red, white and blue color schemes.
Mamdani’s politics is a departure from the founding Democrats as self-described democratic socialists are also campaigning to tax 1% and create government-run grocery stores. If Mamdani wins in November, he will not only become the first Muslim mayor, but also become New York City’s first millennial.

On the Friday before the election, Mamdani walked the entire length of Manhattan, shook hands like regular New Yorkers and supporters. But Mamdani not only walked through Manhattan, but also recorded her journey and carried her followers like an influencer.
